After it was previously announced that khabib nurmagomedov next fight would be in ufc 254 against Gaethje, khabib posted a post on his social media accounts in which he said "Gaethje in October and Georges St-Pierre in April."

Dana White had said he loved khabib, and he would do whatever he asked, and this fight with GSP would be the best he wanted to be his 30th opponent, especially since his father, who died just a month ago, always dreamed of this fight.
Georges Saint-Pierre said "I'm not interested in this fight right now, all I'm interested in is enjoying watching ufc 254."
